The service
SnipSnap is a free URL shortener, provided as-is. It's a solo-maintained project, not a company with an SLA — there's no uptime guarantee, and no promise it'll be available every minute of every day. We aim for reliable, but "aim for" is the honest word.
Acceptable use
Use SnipSnap to shorten legitimate links. Don't use it to distribute or link to:
- Malware, viruses, or anything designed to damage or gain unauthorized access to a system
- Phishing pages or anything impersonating another person, brand, or service to steal information
- Spam — links used for unsolicited bulk messaging
- Content that's illegal where you or the intended audience are located
- Adult or sexually explicit content
Our rights
We can remove any link and suspend any account that violates the acceptable use rules above, at our discretion, without advance notice. This isn't about policing content we simply disagree with — it's about keeping the service usable and off abuse/spam blocklists for everyone.
We don't control where links go
SnipSnap redirects to whatever URL a user entered. We don't review destination content before a link goes live, and we're not responsible or liable for the content of pages that SnipSnap links point to — including links created by other users. If you're the one creating the link, you're responsible for where it points.
Link removal
Links that get reported, flagged by abuse-detection services, or otherwise violate the acceptable use rules may be deleted or disabled without prior warning. Repeated violations may result in your account being suspended.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change as the service changes. We'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page when they do. Continuing to use SnipSnap after a change means you accept the update.
